Why one investor is looking to Miami center for an EB-5 visa

In previous posts we have written about the way an EB-5 visa can be used to bring investors into the United States to live. In this post we will focus on one investor in particular who is hoping to invest in Miami’s Panorama Tower.

The man, who is from Canada, is a software engineer. He indicated that his ultimate goal is to move to Silicon Valley to take advantage of the opportunities that are there in his field.

Though there are 800 regional centers located throughout the U.S.—including some that are most likely closer to where he hopes to reside—he provided reasons why he finds the Miami regional center appealing. He said he believes that the program is more likely to be regulated at a higher level since it will be run by a government body. In turn, he believes that he will get a good return on his investment.

Once he is able to obtain paperwork for the 83-story tower, he plans to invest $500,000—the minimum investment under the program—into the project. The center is expected to have a combination of restaurants, retail, medical office space, hotels and apartments.

As we mentioned in a previous post, in exchange for the investment, in addition to securing a visa for themselves, investors who qualify can also get them for members of their immediate family.

There are very specific guidelines that must be followed to take part in the EB-5 visa program. To make sure they are all being followed, an immigration lawyer is a good place to start.
