Miami hopes to attract investors, fund infrastructure projects

EB-5 regional centers can currently be found in locations throughout the nation. Under the program immigrant investors and their families can come to the United States in exchange for investing a certain amount of money in a regional center. The centers are generally located in areas where employment is low and the economy could use stimulation.

The program is popular with some investors since when things go as planned it provides a path to citizenship.

There have been recent developments concerning this program and South Florida. The city of Miami recently received approval as an EB-5 Regional Center for Foreign Investment under the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services immigrant investment visa program. Accordingly it will be able to fund infrastructure and real estate projects in the city with funds received from foreign investors. In turn, these projects are expected to lead to the creation of jobs.

Though not the only government owned regional center, it is one of very few.

Foreign investors interested in taking part in this program need to meet several requirements. For assistance in navigating this complicated process it is a good idea to work with an immigration lawyer. That individual will likely be able to assist with matters such as those involving funding. Later in the process they can also help with securing a green card and even citizenship.

Because investors have so much on the line it is important that the proper course of action is taken at each step. The failure to do so could result in that individual having to return to his or her home country.
