Classes available in South Florida to prep for citizenship test

As many in the Miami area are likely aware, the road to citizenship can be long and twisted. There are many steps that must be taken before someone gets to the point where he or she is ready to take the citizenship test. This test, which includes questions on matters such as United States history, congressional representative and state capitals, must be passed before one can move on to the next step in become a citizen of the U.S.

This hurdle may sound simple, but for many it is not. One of those reasons could be that the individual seeking to become a citizen has not mastered the English language. Fortunately there are classes being held in South Florida to help individuals in that situation. Some of those classes are held at local libraries. These classes are designed to be convenient for those preparing for the test. Accordingly, they are ongoing and potential test takers can come to class when it is convenient.

The approach the classes take appears to be working. According to one of the individuals who volunteers her time to conduct the class, 99 percent of her students pass the exam.

Of course before one can even consider taking the citizenship test, they must become a permanent resident. The path to securing this is not always a clear one. Depending on one’s circumstances the wait can be a long or short one. Because there is so much ambiguity and confusion around the best way to obtain permanent residency, many may find the best place to start is by contacting an immigration lawyer.
